Oh yes, the lyrics to the 1964 song by Doris Day, Que sera sera — what will be will be definitely has a nice ring to it
But how true is this saying?
Does it even have to be true?
Truth is relative like other things, it could be true to me and false to you, but there’s a lesson we all can learn from it. This lesson is called Non-resistance
What is non-resistance? It is simply the attitude of not pulling or pushing
It is being and allowing to be, it is flowing.
“The future is not ours to see” are other lyrics of the song, and this in itself is a reminder not to look forward but to move forward
This teaches us that being present and experiencing each moment fully frees our mind of anxiety.
The future is not yours to see, so why be bothered by it?
Water is non-resistant, it doesn’t resist the rocks on its path but continues to flow around, over, and between them with purpose.
Allowing whatever to be is also accepting that every moment of conscious living affects the present and the future, will there be rocks in the future? Maybe but non-resistance will make a way for you.
